Craig Nierman practices almost exclusively in the area of insurance law and handles jury and non-jury trials, insurance arbitrations, as well as appeals. He serves nationally as an insurance expert in state and federal courts and previously worked in management for one of the world’s largest insurance companies.

In 1999, Mr. Nierman graduated with high distinction from University of Iowa College of Law; he taught Insurance Law there as an adjunct professor and often instructs other attorneys on insurance issues. The legal textbook he co-authored is now in its third edition. He has been named to the Order of the Coif, the national legal honor society, and has received the highest peer review ratings from Martindale-Hubbell and Avvo.

Craig also speaks to law enforcement groups, college students, community organizations, and bar associations on representing human trafficking and sexual assault survivors. He serves in organizations focused on stopping trafficking and supporting survivors.

Additionally, Craig helps other attorneys resolve their cases through mediation. He is a Mediator of the Academy of the International Academy of Dispute Resolution as well as a member of the American Academy of ADR Attorneys; he chairs the Iowa State Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Section.

Craig married his high school sweetheart. They have two adult children, have lived in the Iowa City area since 1993, and enjoy being an active part of the community.
